Hi,
The degenerate curves discard will happen for the entire set if there are any degenerate curves in the set.
Could you provide me with an alembic cache that exhibits the problem that you're seeing?

I got mine working. Try setting the Strand Steps with the same value as Segments, then export with Viewport Settings. I also set the amount of hair particles similar to the number of triangles but it might not be necessary.
