Just wanted to give a quick update on multi-user mode as there has been quite a bit of progress over the last couple weeks. Here's a recap of what's been done, and what's to come:
Done:
- Registration and login (see screenshot below!)
- I will of course add the ability to disable registration
- Users' passwords are hashed using bcrypt, which makes them quite secure
- User login/authentication is implemented using Passport.js. After login, users receive a JWT token which they can use to login on page reload (otherwise you would have to login every time you refresh the page)
- Users download their videos to their own directories, file manager reflects this update as well
- Users can create their own playlists using their downloaded videos
- Added a user profile dialog where some user info can be found, as well as a logout button
What's to come:
- Implement user sharing of videos or playlists
- Implement user subscriptions of channels or playlists
- User management dialog/page where users can be added, modified, or deleted. This is where permissions management will be, too
- Permissions system with two roles: "user" and "admin". Admins can edit settings and have all permissions
- Add mechanism to reset admin password
Anyways, that's all for now. Still a lot of work left to do, but most of the big changes have been finished. Let me know if you have any questions/suggestions!
