If you are using JPA, this can't be done directly, but there is a trick which makes it possible with the contact function like this: concat(field_name, '') ~ '%3007%'. Not sure if there are other ways. Source: https://developer.jboss.org/message/979302#979302
It may be possible for the library to detect this case and automatically use concat behind the scenes, which would make your query valid.

It's a shame I didn't think about this kind of indirect casting :)
Autodetecting for this case under the hood would be useful but it's absolutely not necessary.
