Base.eltype
. Probably it should just be removed.from dynamicppl.jl.
It's used, e.g., in https://github.com/TuringLang/Turing.jl/blob/32845f87abc8c4c02da1746dffe8edc2c364eafe/src/inference/Inference.jl#L525, but one just should not use return_type
to infer return types of functions - at any time the compiler might give up and return Any
or Union
types. IMO it would be better to just evaluate typeof(vi[spl])
if needed.

This error is usually indicative that vi[spl]
errors.

Maybe we can fallback on eltype(vi[spl])
if return_type
fails. This makes sure we throw a decent error if vi[spl]
errors.

I think vi[SampleFromUniform()]
doesn't work.

I can confirm that it works on master though. But it didn't at some point.

Has this been solved?

@torfjelde can you check whether this has been addressed, or provide an MWE for debugging?

I missed this, but I have no idea what this is anymore and probably didn't back in Feb either
