First, thanks for caring and reporting!

Bug 1) when the option 'hide the menu bar" is untick,..

I can't reproduce it and there's nothing in the code that can do it.

Bug 2) the underlying line appear sometime bold,..

Not reproducible either. FeatherNotes doesn't draw the underline; it just determines whether it should exist or not. The shape of the underline may depend on the font or whether it's fixed-pitch or not.

Bug 3) when an image is integrate in a sheet and you change the document font(size),...

Again, not reproducible here. Changing the document font (size) doesn't affect the image size.

Bug 4) related with the bug 3, change the document font have the same effect...

I didn't understand this. Please be more specific!

Bug 5) when the sheet become long, right after some modifications (underlining, bold...)
the page goes up by it self...

Not reproducible.

1° request: the option "start with the last opened node" should have to be in your todo-list

That's an acceptable feature request. I'll think about it and might open a page for it after closing this.

2° request: the icon "add 1 array" should have to be in your todo list.

I didn't understand this. Please be more specific!

3° request: the app should to keep in memory for each nodes, the last folder opened while download an image

Again, please be more specific! FeatherNotes doesn't download anything.

Closing because none of the issues was reproducible and the only clear thing was the first feature request, about which I'll think later.

from feathernotes.

tsujan avatar tsujan commented on August 17, 2024

Now the feature has been implemented in git: the last active node is also restored if "Start with the last opened file" is checked in Preferences.

hi & sorry to answer only right now!

bug1

I can't reproduce it and there's nothing in the code that can do it.

option > preference > window > do not display menu bar

bug2

FeatherNotes doesn't draw the underline; it just determines whether it should exist or not.
The shape of the underline may depend on the font or whether it's fixed-pitch or not.

ok but the underline shape appear sometimes bold sometime thin in equal conditions

bug4

I didn't understand this. Please be more specific!

when i use ' change the document font' i lose my the typographic effects that was previously applied on the doc,
such as bold - italic - underline.

request 2

I didn't understand this. Please be more specific!

sorry Tsujan, i was talking about icon in the tool bar.
we have one the tools bar an ' image icon' for integrate image in the working node.
so i was suggesting to have the 'array icon' in the tools bar too for integrate an array faster in the working node

request 3

Again, please be more specific! FeatherNotes doesn't download anything.

yeah you're right, till now the doe not download anything. that wasn't my idea. but any way, it was an error.

best regards

option > preference >…

I know where its place is but the problem you mentioned does NOT exists — at least, not in the way you described it.

when i use ' change the document font' i lose my the typographic effects that was previously

Oh, thank you very much! This is reproducible and is a new issue, caused by a backward-incompatible change (or a bug) in Qt's method QTextCharFormat::setFont(). It didn't exist before. It's also deeper than it seems at the first glance. I'll fix it soon.

sorry Tsujan, i was talking about icon in the tool bar.

OK, now I understand what you mean. The items on the toolbar are chosen with care. The toolbar shouldn't get cluttered. It should only contain the most important actions; otherwise, it'll lose its functionality.

ok, and your argue is on the strict line of the iswig concept, however, in the scientist/engineer field, one have more the use of array for their memo & knowledge structured.
Both are also relevant in the toolbar which will remain simple, effective & efficient.

tsujan avatar tsujan commented on August 17, 2024

The toolbar already has 22 actions. I hate the cluttered toolbars of some KDE apps and won't make my apps like them.

The problem with font setting is fixed (worked around) in 835d16d

It should have been caused by a Qt change because a very old version of FeatherNotes that I have on a machine with Qt 5.6 works fine. Thanks again for telling me about it!

hi, i have for, for this week, a new stack of bugs!(?):

  1. hover the mouse on the icon in the systray, do not displays the name of the app like others but this code line:
    <p style=white-space:pre'>Divers</p>

  2. arrays can not be moved on an horizontal axis like picture: always stick with the left border of the node

  3. when lines are already modified by typographic effects (bold, italic..) i must select the line from the left to the right so as to disable the typographic effect; if i try to do it from the right side to the left, effect disappear.

  4. paste an HTML link to a node, acting like a simple pasting: i can not click on it and see my web-browser open the page of this link.

regards

  1. If you are in KDE, that's a KDE bug.
  2. Your English wasn't understandable. There's nothing called "Array" in FeatherNotes.
  3. Not reproducible.
  4. Pay attention to the right-click menu.

ok

array or table or board (with cells)

3. Not reproducible.

i meaned that i cannot remove/disable the effect from the line via the typographics icons in the tools bar

4. Pay attention to the right-click menu.

right-click or short-cut (ctrl + shift + v) is the same thing

  1. I'll add a workaround for KDE's buggy tray.
  2. Still not understandable. Please be specific! Which table/cell? What's a "board"?
  3. I understood what you meant but it isn't reproducible here. The format (what you call "typographics") is cleared regardless of how the text is selected.
  4. There's no bug here. I copy the word "FeatherNotes" from the top of this page in Firefox/Falkon/Chromium and paste it with Ctrl+Shift+V; its link is correctly included and can be opened by clicking. It's possible that the issue you see existed in a previous version and fixed in git.

thank you

ok, lets try by this way; i can integrate 2 kind of element in node either an picture or an array (like calc-sheet with libre office ....)

3. I understood what you meant but it isn't reproducible here. The format (what you call "typographics") is cleared regardless of how the text is selected.

unfortunately you can not reproduce it. maybe related with Qt version.

hope for that, i'll wait for the V.0.9.0 of the app

Oh, most probably, you mean inserting a table. Yes, I know it. Tables are very different from images and don't follow the alignment. That's a Qt peculiarity; there's nothing in FeatherNotes' code to make them so.

That being said, I'll try to find a workaround. FeatherNotes already contains several workarounds for Qt issues. Thanks for reminding me of this one!

unfortunately you can not reproduce it. maybe related with Qt version.

I have Qt 5.15 but hadn't encountered the issue that you described with older versions of Qt either — I use FeatherNotes a lot.

from feathernotes.

Cherkah avatar Cherkah commented on August 17, 2024

ok thanks for your answers

from feathernotes.

tsujan avatar tsujan commented on August 17, 2024

Now, in git, these changes are made:

  • A workaround is added for the tray tooltip under KDE's Plasma.
  • Tables have a new sub-menu in their right-click menu for changing their alignments (to left, right and center). By default, a table is left aligned when it's created (that Qt's default).

And also the following changes, which aren't related to our discussion:

  • The node right-click menu has more items (for moving it).
  • Some node actions are automatically disabled when they're impossible.
  • If a node text goes beyond the available space of the side-pane, it won't be elided anymore; instead, a horizontal scrollbar will be shown in the side-pane. Also, when a node is selected, the horizontal scrollbar automatically slides to fit it into the available space.

Thanks for your comments!

ok thank again for your modifications.

yeah the git version of your app is better; installed it yesterday night.

i give me one week so as to report to you troubles if any some

thanks for your reactivity & communication
