Our examples are just a demo to get something up and running. It is definitely not how to do high-performance graphics.

The core issue here is uploading the entire screen as a texture every single frame. What you'd actually want to do is only ever upload parts of the screen that change, and create many different images / layers where each "thing" on screen is then composed on the GPU. This can be part of the approach for high performance graphics: https://github.com/treeform/boxy
