Looking at the documentation here and not having Windows installed yet. I have a few questions
- Is the Management Module installed by default?
- What happens when you type
gi
with the gitingore alias: does it run get-item, gitignore, or throw an error from get-item?
I can change the documentation to use a different alias but I would have to go back an research all of the aliases and find something that's available on all 3 platforms. What do you think about the alias gig
? Also thanks for pointing this out.

According to this documentation yes Management Module is installed by default.
If I attempt to override gi it remains get-item and does not change it's behavior. While I believe it's possible to override this it could drastically alter behavior of most PowerShell scripts referencing this alias (it's /very/ common).
gig
would be appropriate and likely unused by most scripters. Thanks for the quick responses!

Alright, I'll make a change to the documentation, but I'm going to leave this open for a little bit. I just need to make sure this works on Linux.

Sounds good to me, thanks for putting all this together this is going to be pretty useful.

Changed this command to gig
and updated documentation.
