This is not about chewy, but about elasticsearch itself. You may search on only one field with term query.
If you are doing like this: PostsIndex.query(term: {body: 'hover'}).query(term: {title: 'hover'}).query(term: {html_block: 'hover'}).query_mode(:should)
you are creating 3 term queries inside should query, see this a kind of or
operator between your term queries. But ES has more convenient ways to do this: http://www.elasticsearch.org/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/query-dsl-multi-match-query.html or even http://www.elasticsearch.org/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/query-dsl-query-string-query.html . These are work with multiple fields simulating should or must queries. Also term query looks for search string as is and if you will try to search with 2 words, you will possibly find nothing. So, read the docs carefully.

awesome thanks for that explanation. It would be cool to include information about other query types in the readme. If I get a minute I'll see if I can do a pull request and take care of that.
