Though just discovered changing the order allows it to work and import
class AwardsIndex < Chewy::Index
define_type Award::Category
define_type Award
end
from chewy.
It is because Chewy::Index.define_type
adds Award
constant in AwardsIndex
namespace, which ends up being referred in Award::Category
. Defining types using names in global scope would help, as:
class AwardsIndex < Chewy::Index
define_type ::Award
define_type ::Award::Category
end
To mitigate this namespace collision, we can override .const_missing
callback in Chewy::Type::Base
, making the name resolving redirected to the global scope. I'll add a PR dealing with this issue.

Would be nice, btw, yeah, currently I'm using :: in our app to avoid this issue.

Thanks for the tip, is now working!
