Yes @tmewett is keen on releasing a tiles version eventially. It is not / will not be in v1.8.2. It's currently planned for 1.9.

I even asked on the reddit but the post got deleted by a mod I guess (do they not like BrogeCE or something there?...)
I think Jett is trying to hold off on 1.8.2 discussion until the contest ends, so people don't get confused, that's all
I see 1.8.2 was released, I was just wondering if there will be a titles version to follow for it?
There will, but I want to get it properly finished, so I don't think I will release the current beta version from 1.8.1. (But I don't think you'll have to wait as long as 1.9.) You can continue to play the previous tiles if you want, as the gameplay didn't change in this version.
