AFAIK you cannot expire a hash value, just the hash itself

I know this is closed but I don't see why you can't use HSET and EXPIRE. For example:
HSET session123 username myuser //create a session and assign a username.
EXPIRE session123 10 //Expire the session in 10 seconds
As far as I can see from your code you don't need to expire a specific session key (eg session 123 username) just the session itself.
Am I missing something painfully obvious?

oh well, it's more efficient to use the hash instead of set for several sessions, but if we were to use a hash per session no that wouldn't work, we need nested objects
