So you want to proxy all requests to the GitLab API through some kind of server that adds the API token?
That wouldn't help much, because an attacker could then just send requests to that proxy server and have free access to your GitLab instance with that.

While that's true, the proxy server would be a consistent place to throttle (or cache?) requests. The proxy can make sure to only send read requests to the API.

Sorry, but I think that's out of scope for this monitor application. You can build that with NGINX or any other reverse proxy. (proxy_pass
and proxy_set_header
)
