- This page gives a detailed description of the exact variables used for recalculating the wealth index for each country
- Replicating it on the cross-country level would be hard as it would require extensive remapping of the columns per country, so we decided during stand-up to drop the exact recalculation of this
- However, we observed that each variable/question in the survey data is mapped to a given code, which appears to be similar across countries, even if the exact column name differs. This could potentially be used to map survey questions together in the future
- (ex. Philippines: QH101_11 Source of drinking water: Piped into dwelling, Cambodia: QH102_11 Source of drinking water during dry season: Piped - into dwelling, Myanmar: QH102_11 Source of drinking water: Piped into dwelling)
- For now, we will try to replicate the wealth indices only from the variables specified in (Yeh, et al. 2020). From the Cambodia report, they report that drinking water should be present in the data, so we'll debug the code to find out why it was missing in our results.
