Actually i'm quite new to ruby and rails as well, but it seems that nil object would be better or it is the common way?!
Sorry for posting just the issue, I would do it myself, but not so familiar with the language yet.

Yeah .get should return nil and .get! should raise an exception. I'll try to add that next week.
