Atlas is drawn using GL_NEAREST instead of GL_LINEAR. This will cause problems
if you
want to scale the Atlas

Is it possible that the fix I supplied for texture2d.m may be related to this?
If so,
it may still be possible to use GL_LINEAR to draw the Atlas?

since lots of people are having problem with atlas I've committed the GL_NEAREST
solution to TextureAtlas.m
GL_NEAREST means that scaling won't work as nice.
Probably all Atlas Nodes, specially TextureAtlas should receive a parameter
specifying the TEXTURE_MIN/MAG_FILTER
closing this bug.
Probably I will open a new one about the optional parameter.
