Please try to run autoreconf. autoreconf calls automake which generates all
Makefile.in files.

Have you tried making a clean SVN checkout and then running autogen.sh there?
The above looks to me like you've got old files around...

still no success. which version of autotools i need? i'm using debian lenny

It's best to use the newest possible autotools available for your distro.
I'm using automake 1.10.1 and autoconf 2.63 and I can't reproduce the problem
you're seeing.

i tried autoconf 2.61 and 2.62 from experimental but still no success.. still 
there
no package for 2.63 version neither debian or ubuntu

Yes, the distribution tarball should always work, but I wonder what's causing 
the
problem when you check out a copy from svn. Could you please post the output of
running autogen.sh in a fresh svn checkout? Also, could you verify that 
autogen.sh
generated config.sub and config.guess in the source tree?

If you run ./autogen.sh from current svn, it works - tested both on Debian 
Lenny and
Fedora rawhide (F10).
