The bundle if updated to the latest version will use version 1.8 of ruby so this won't be an issue. Make sure your bundles are fully up-to-date.

@infininight I thought I was using the latest, so I re-cloned the repo (it's all the same...) and the same error occurs.
Turns out I was using .tm_properties
and setting TM_RUBY to rvm-auto-ruby, to get the Ruby context that I'm working in.
I disabled that, and sure enough, the problem went away.
However, the problem remains that this isn't future-proof. The commit I referenced injects a non-ASCII character, and in Ruby 1.9 and newer, this error will continue to be triggered.
Adding the encoding
to a file that contains the correct encoding to help interpreters seems reasonable to me.
OSX 10.9 starts at Ruby 2.0.0, and this problem may be even more prevalent, since now the Framework 1.8 path is hardcoded.
