@gnosis unless I'm misunderstanding you, it already can. Visually select some text with vllll or whatever, then press C-n and the next occurrence of the same string will get a cursor, etc etc.

If I want the visually-selected regions are not the same string. How can I do it? Is there a mapping like 'CTRL-M' that let me place my cursor anywhere?

@bohrshaw is there a pattern to where you need the cursors? You can search for a string with /pattern then start using C-n to place a cursor at each match of the pattern. Some sort of "drop cursor here" operation would be nice though, though the UI for that sort of interaction would need to have more phases, otherwise moving to another position would also move the other cursors by side-effect.

Or you could use https://github.com/hlissner/vim-multiedit to manually place cursors
