Terminal styling is not normal Android application settings. It just writes preset to $HOME/.termux/colors.properties which then may be arbitrarily edited by user.

So how you are proposing to determine current theme ?

either grep the color.properties file or save state from first/last input ?

To build on what @ChiefMikeK said, perhaps there's a way to determine current theme.

Put a comment in the colors.properties file about which theme it is. When opening the theme dialog, scan that file for the 'theme name' and compare the contents of the file to the theme installed. If it matches, mark that theme in the list. If it doesn't match, make an option called 'manual' or 'custom' be selected in the theme dialog.

Update: or use a checksum to compare so you can do similar with marking the current font
