The decomposition you're interested in is INDSCAL. This decomposition is, to my understanding, not always the easiest to fit. You can check out Kolda and Bader for more info and cites to follow.
If what's in Kolda and Bader doesn't work, then you could maybe try a regularisation term that encourages the two factor matrices to be equal, or maybe some AO-ADMM approach, but I'm not sure on the convergence properties of such schemes.
Anyways, there are no immediate plans to implement INDSCAL in TensorLy, but you're welcome to submit a PR if you get something working. I'll close this issue as we don't have any plans to implement it.
