We suspect that the "Create a passkey" button on the /secured
page is disabled because your browser / device combo does not support passkeys. A few things to note:
- We initially allowed passkey creation only if the WebAuthn API is available AND if a
userVerifyingPlatformAuthenticator
is available. We recently dropped the latter requirement to also allow passkey creation on non-platform authenticators, i.e. security keys. I haven't checked, but this change may not have happend in the example app's/secured
page. - We'll introduce a profile element very soon that brings a UI for passkey management. We'll replace the current content of the example app's
/secured
page with this new profile element next.

BTW here is the full version info. I should have done this from the start i know..
OS: MAC Big sur ( is an old laptop but still gets security and safari updates thankfully)

What Model is your Mac Book? Does it have a Secure Enclave?

That's right. I still have my late 2013 lying around. Maybe you can wait a couple of days an buy an M1 machine for less! These are beasts, too.
