The first coding way is not compilable under f2py.
The second method is OK.

Okay I've found and resolved the issue with a newly published version fmodpy==1.7.1 and added new test cases to cover this in the future. You should see the correct output now when running your program. Here's what I get now: (image)

Also, just so you are aware, the memory that is allocated by Fortran will not be deallocated by python! So it will cause a memory leak if you allow the returned variables to go out of scope and get deleted by python garbage collection.

If you need to handle long running programs, make sure you create a separate fortran subroutine or function for DEALLOCATE'ing the array that you allocated previously!
