The devel "force AGC to disabled" for SDRPlay breaks --gain-elements for Airspy Mini about dumphfdl HOT 4 CLOSED

Tested on two Airspy Mini devices back and forth with Master and Devel binaries. With binaries built from devel, if I add --gain-elements LNA=0,MIX=0,VGA=4 to dumphfdl config, the AGC (all gain) is off. There's no gain whatsoever until I remove --gain-elements and restart the dumphfdl instance.

So you've set the gain knobs manually to the lowest possible setting. "There's no gain whatsoever" seems to be the expected outcome then.

Crank it up to the max and see if it makes a difference. Here is a chart with gain ranges for Airspy SDRs.

Doh! You are correct. I didn't try going high enough since I also have some amplification in the chain. It does work if I use much higher gain (I already use the exact same chart you linked :-)). This also now works on AirspyHF+ Discovery as well.

So the question is what was happening previously with gain on Airspys? AGC maxed out? The current Master release still increases gain but starts out with a much higher gain. so VGA=4 was all I needed to get my min signal strength from say -89 dbfs to around -80. With current devel release --gain-elements LNA=3,MIX=0,VGA=10 gives me about the same signal level as --gain-elements LNA=0,MIX=0,VGA=4 did with the previous version.

And now I can tune my AirspyHF+ as well!
