We don't maintain separate branches for each minor releases, as we don't plan to provide patches separately for each minor versions. Given that we follow semver, any changes done in 2.x will be BC and so you can upgrade (this is how Twig is released since 3 years btw. there is no 1.10.x, 1.12.x or 1.15.x branches).
the effective way is to use ~2.5 as your composer constraint. This way, you always get the latest 2.x stable release. and if you allow dev version, you will get the master branch as long as it is the development branch of the next 2.x release. The day we decide to break BC to work on MonologBundle 3.0, we will also change the branch alias to stop matching ~2.5 constraints.
for a project of the size of MonologBundle, there is no need to maintain several versions in parallel. It would make the work much more complex for us without a real benefit.
