You mean actually exposing the transient
and persistent!
and related update fns right?
from mori.
Yes, that’s right. Transients have always been a great idea, and would be useful in isolated places where persistent data structures would allocate too many objects, especially in applications such as games that are sensitive to garbage collection.

I'm all for supporting transients but there is a question around naming, in Clojure and ClojureScript we can use the bang i.e. conj!
. I'm not sure what we should do with the JS names to indicate their usage.
from mori.
I suppose options include copying Clojure’s _BANG
suffix, or using a simpler _
suffix (though this may clash with adapting any future ClojureScript names that end with -
). Maybe _B
would be a better compromise.

I think mutable
might be good for getting the transient version of a data structure. I wonder if these operations shouldn't be provided in a different namespace, mori.mutable
, then we could just reuse the names?
from mori.
We now have a mori.mutable
namespace. transient
is thaw
, persistent is freeze
. The modification operations are simply their names minus the bang.

Ah, this is wonderful; thank you very much.
