+1, I have Interpret gem that depends on this one and I couldn't provide fully rails 3.1 compatiblity until then. Thank you.

I've created a rails-3.2 branch, which I believe will also resolve the 3.1 issues. If you're still on Rails 3.1 and don't mind being a guinea pig and letting me know how things go, you can configure the gem in Gemfile like this:
gem 'i18n-active_record',
:git => 'git://github.com/svenfuchs/i18n-active_record.git',
:branch => 'rails-3.2',
:require => 'i18n/active_record'

Probably it's not relevant anymore, but in next days i will release gem. It should also include rails 3 support
