Here's an example. Cross-reference is resolved correctly using the source-id, but the actual heading id remains auto-generated.

The problem is that, by default, Pandoc always creates an id, which can be overridden manually.
The Pandoc ids are not URL compatible and created based on the content of the heading.

We could:

  • transform Pandoc-ids to be URL compatible
  • or use a special notation for detecting manual ids, e.g., {#my_id}

Can automatic id generation be turned off?

2nd option works fine for me... if someone enters an id that's not matching our special notation format, it will be considered a generated pandoc id.. then we use our own id counter.
