You're correct, the id of the data source retrieved from terraform is not a strongdm ID like you'd see in other SDKs; per the provider documentation (https://registry.terraform.io/providers/strongdm/sdm/latest/docs/data-sources/peering_group#attribute-reference)

id - a generated id representing this request, unrelated to input id and sdm_peering_group ids.

This is a consequence of the data sources for this provider each returning multiple results, so one would use .ids.0 instead. We have a backlog ticket to split the data sources into singular and plural definitions to make this a little clearer, and we'll mark your interest in that rework, and are open to other feedback.

With that said, it appears there is some other problem with a DNS lookup, per lookup api.strongdm.com: i/o timeout, which should be a transient error.
