This is due to babelState.json
having not been generated by gatsby yet. You can see it being created by gatsby
here and expected by babel-preset-gatsby
here.
I fixed the error by running yarn build
before running yarn storybook
.
The simplest solution would be to update the readme to include the build command before starting storybook.

So strange, maybe we just sidestep this issue by changing the instructions to NPM?

I don't think that's really a long term solution with the popularity of yarn and how Storybook uses yarn in almost all of its documentation 🤔 let's start by checking whether this is reproducible for others? (fresh clone > yarn install > yarn run storybook)
