Ran into this issue as well. The docs specify to install with -D to make them devDependencies but that leads to the above problem. Not sure if I'm missing something, but perhaps the README files should be updated?

Update: looks like it was my mistake adding it as devDependency, adding as regular dependency solves the issue. Sorry for the false alarm.

Hi, I also got the same error, even though I've made sure to install it not as devDependencies. I don't know what happened, but after some page changes and reload, it worked fine.
Update: turns out it works fine only after page routing (I use sveltekit). If I reload the page, the error always occurs.
Update: I don't really get the why, but found this comment on @sveltejs/kit and now it works fine.
