Let the branch name be the subject code like 15CSL77 so it's easier to track.
Additionally I'd suggest keep folders all lower case.

"There may be some confusion If we only use the Subject code in the name, since '15CSL77' will be incremented to 16CSL77 in the upcoming year. I would suggest writing the name of the subject first"

I don't quite understand how it will be confusing as we will preserve the 2015 as well as 2016 schemes for reasons where anyone needs to refer those materials. Can you explain as to how it will be confusing?

Additonally add more comments as to what's taking place and how it works. It may help for external viva if they knew how the code worked. @Basavarajeshwari-Ambi

@Hitoshirenu

A lot of people don't really know the subject codes of their subjects, and I feel that it'd make it easier for them if we included the name of the subject in the folder name.

Please don't confused. the branch will have subject codes only as it is for submissions not for students to view.
The students will see the full subject_code+subject_name in folder but for folks who contribute we don't really need that big a branch name.

Yea, @nathanielmathew he is talking about branch name, not folder name.
