Yes, we've thought about that and also Alex Crichton has mentioned this thing once as far as I can remember.
Some websocket configuration which would configure the backpressure probably makes sense.
The only question is how to implement it properly in our case. The simplest idea which comes to my mind is to keep some queue in the WebSocketStream
, which results in calling write_pending()
and write_message()
inside the poll_complete()
until the queue is fully sent.
An alternative solution would probably be adding the backpressure directly into tungstenite-rs
. When tungstenite-rs
supports that, the implementation on the tokio's side is trivial.
