Thanks for the feedback! Yes I debated over this when designing the API, however the sheer number of methods that would be required to get the same functionality that could be provided throught dot notation made me decide breaking convention was worthwhile in this particular case.

@miklselsoe For what it's worth, UIView+AutoLayout is basically the API you would get when approaching the same issue (making Auto Layout easier to code) with the approach you're advocating. Masonry is an awesome and fantastic project, but I decided to build UIView+AutoLayout specifically because I wanted to offer an API driven by some different underlying design decisions. There are most definitely pros and cons to both approaches.
