Merge: disorientation about mondieu HOT 3 OPEN

Thanks for creating this issue, it is always good to see people are using mondieu!

I'm not actively using any FreeBSD machine myself right now, so I'm not too familiar with etcupdate (although it was on my radar already).

Do you happen to know why merging went wrong? From which to which FreeBSD version were you upgrading?

From 14.0-CURRENT, but (sorry) I don't have the disk with me this weekend, so I can't tell which version (commit reference).

Subsequently updated from source.

If we're lucky I might still have the pre-update boot environment.

I don't come back here very often, but checked back for the first time in ages.
Just wanted to say that

1. Thanks for mondieu! I've been using it for maybe four or five years to keep my Ports development VM up to date with -CURRENT
2. I did look at trying to use etcupdate about four years ago and couldn't get my head around it. I might see if I can find time again to better understand it. (I just hope I don't see myself in this thread in another four years saying the same thing!)
3. Not that I'm doubting @grahamperrin at all, but I have yet to see any issues like this
