Can you send me the msg file? I tried your code myself and it runs without any problems overhere.

You're right Kees. I isolated the part that failed in a Unit Test and it works. I should have done that before creating an issue here. My apologies.
So some other part of my solution was probably causing this. During that time I was messing around with the project .Net target framework versions and reinstalling NuGet packages etc. because of that... Sorry for wasting your precious time.
