I don't fully understand your problem, but you should be able to manipulate using zadd as you are suggesting. If you simply want to run the task one time off schedule why not use Celery.delay or async_apply directly, rather than manipulate RedBeat?

The code to add a task is kind of out of the scope here, so we're trying to use an existing task. Maybe we could write a piece of python code that "copies" a "missed" task and launches it as a one-shot with async_apply
indeed. I was hoping there would be an "easy" way to do it in redis-cli.

fair enough, it seems you are on the right track with using zadd. I wonder if you are hitting issues related to redis 3.0 compatability, #107, as I see you are using the XX
option.
