The next version will have this option, i'm working on it.
Phased-restart will work only if you have puma set in cluster mode.
preload_app! is usefull only when puma is set in single mode.

Thumbs up. My understandig (regarding to this: https://github.com/puma/puma#clustered-mode) was preload_app! is usefull in cluster mode. There is benefit from lower memory consumption, but it excludes phased restart (but puma docs are not absolutely clear about this).

I am also really confused with all the restart and modes of puma.
I'm also wondering when should we use preload_app versus when we shouldn't. My ultimate goal is to have zero downtime on deploy. Is cluster mode the only mode that support 0 downtime?
Any guidance is welcome!
