Hi Serge,
I was working on an ELF file reader as part of a dataflow analysis system (intended, in our case, to help with our binary analysis work). Ultimately we intend to open-source our work, but it's still in a very early stage and I don't think this will happen anytime soon. I was also just an intern, and in fact, my internship period just recently finished, so I can't tell you how much of the stuff I wrote will be left if and when the project is open-sourced.
However, if you want to take a look at other work the research group is doing in the area, check out http://bap.ece.cmu.edu/
I don't have a sourceforge account, but sure, I'll create one and vote on the project! :)
