Not sure but I don't think "Folder types" would be needed, i.e. all of this need only apply to files. Maybe handle "Folder" separately (determined by "is_folder") and "Folder" is always available for select-formats even though not listed in EXTENSIONS?

that´s not an option – select-formats are mainly used with tinymce and when I need to insert an image, I shouldn´t be able to select a folder.

@vam: we´re using fileobject.filetype with the templates, but filetype (in base.py) checks _is_folder ... but somehow that doesn´t seem to work. if I upload an image and remove the extension, it gives me a filetype "Folder". any idea?
