Wow thank you so much @zuurw I d be delighted to consider any kind of artistic (or code) contribution to Johann!
I can give you some background on how this name came into being. It was proposed by my son @R1G who is a musician, artist & game developer. He suggested this name Johann in the spirit of great composers from the Barooque era (many of em had Johann as their first name) And the other reason for having a human name for a tool was "Johann" can be like what Siri or Alexa is. Lately this kinda virtual assistant is becoming commonplace and there isnt one for music as such. Of course these are really lofty ideals and the tool may never really use any AI as such but it s not a bad thought at all!
Thats it for now.. i sincerely look forward to your ideas!

Hi @walmik i, I will start today working in your logo, do you have any request for the logo, like colors or something more specific? can you say something for inspiration?
Greetings.

Thank you @zuurw There are 2 ways I was looking at the overall design for the application. Maybe you can derive some ideas from that and use it for the logo design:
- Either we can have an classical art approach where the application has a bunch hand drawn elements (and we could even have a caricature that depicts Johann which @R1G can add later)
- Or it could have a modern look where it s all minimalistic (something like your own profile pic here on Github) Basically simple lines or shapes that depict something meaningful.
As for colors, I ll leave that to you. However there s going to be 2 strong colors to depict a root note and a regular note that belongs to the chord or scale selected. These 2 colors can be anything you chose. Currently these are green and blue (but i ll change them based on your color selection for the logo). The rest of the interface could then be simply black and white.
Hope that helps and thank you very much for your contribution :)

Hello I will try to create something with a modern look where it s all minimalistic.
And I will try to incorporate this elements piano keyboard, guitar and computer keyboard, I think it will look great.
Cheers!

Let me explain the concept of my design: The rounded part is a reference to a piano, the lines at the bottom in the logo represent the guitar, the blue and green circles represent the notes and finally at the top right I put the J key as reference to the computer keyboard and to the project name JOHANN.
I hope you like it, if not I can make other design.
Cheers!

OMG @zuurw I love this idea! It s just brilliant and I m very thankful to you for creating it. I ll use this in the upcoming revamp of the app and will also mention you in the credits. I m currently working on cleaning up and refactoring the code so that it s more manageable. Also i m adding a new feature where users can enter custom notes (instead of choosing scales or chords) I should be done in a couple of weeks and I ll launch the site with this logo. Thank you @zuurw, this is just great work!

Hello @walmik Im happy that you like it, to be honest it was difficult for me to connect all the elements, but in the end I think the logo was simple, modern and with a minimalist look.
I will create the PR with this files for you.
Greetings!

Hi @walmik, I saw that you have other projects going on, do you need a logo for them too?
- my-app
- scribbletune
- War-Is-Heck
- Tone.js
from johann.
Well out of those only scribbletune
is my personal project which is in active development and has a lot of traction. I d certainly like a logo for that and would be honored to get one from you! my-app
is something i had quickly created for a recent talk i gave for scribbletune
. I m still playing around with the concept and havent got a final name for it yet, but scribbletune
is already out there and could use a logo. Basically scribbletune
is an open source JavaScript library I created to help musicians to generate music programmatically.
War-Is-Heck
is @R1G s project I ll ask him if he wants a logo for it too! Thank you so much @zuurw Sincerely! :)

By the way this is the direction I m taking with the new logo you ve created. It s mostly WIP but would like your inputs if you get a moment (you may need to click on the images to see them clearly):
