I use MacPorts, and I had to do some fiddling to get setup.py
to see my library headers. If you want I can write a little set of instructions I used to get it built and installed. I wouldn't know where you'd want them to go, though.

Install instructions are looking fairly complete. The addition of conda packages and the https://github.com/SciTools/installation-recipes repo have helped massively.
