I'd need a few more details about your environment.
Is the error happening within BAS, a local ide (which one/which os) or during a build step of your ci/cd tool (which one/which environment)?

Regarding the BAS option, I just tried it on my end and the following steps work for me:

• create a BAS dev space of type Fiori
• open folder user/projects
• open terminal
• clone the gh repo
• execute npm run build-standalone

The reason this works out-of-the-box, is because the BAS dev space is already pre-configured to include the MBT build tool, make and other required installations.
If your environment is windows, and you want to use the MBT build tool locally, you might need to install "GNU make" manually upfront:
https://sap.github.io/cloud-mta-build-tool/makefile/

Appreciate your quick turn around. Sorry I missed to mention about environment and IDE. I am on laptop with VS Studio code and I do have necessary tools installed as the other SAP-Sample works for me example multi-cloud-html5-apps-samples. Let me try on SAP BAS as well
