Is this actually a problem on the Rubydora side, or does something blow up on the Fedora side?

I donโt know how to tell for sure. I did not see any obvious errors in the Fedora log.

As posted on hydra-tech, inserting a 1s delay between ingests seems to dodge this problem. Since there's no concrete evidence that it's a Rubydora-related issue, I'm going to close without action.
