How can I collaborate? I work on translation to Polish in crowdin. I would love to help with userguide.
Is that a correct way to do it?

Hi @pgorod

Yes you are right!
Some non-technical girl here at gcoop, translated a lot and we had no time to make the PR. Sorry!

By now we have these translations:

traducciones

Let us verify these translations, and start opening PR.

Hi José!

Sure, we can pull these efforts together under the new site. It is ready to be multilingual, although some work still needs to be done on that front. It's not a priority for the launch, which is imminent, but it is a priority immediately afterwards.

It's great to see you have all that content ready, do we have your permission to use it in the main site?

Hi José. The Spanish user guide is now live!

Please check my amateur translations of the menus, you can find them in file i18n/es.toml. Please fix anything you think that needs to be fixed.

A small note about your future contribution: you can (and should) add more line breaks in the paragraphs. These are ignored by Asciidoc (unless you have two successive line breaks) so they won't mess with the rendering of the paragraph. But it has the advantage of making things easier to read when editing in a text editor.

You didn't answer my question above about the five sections. I'd like to know how you feel about this. Thanks!

Sorry, I forget to answer!!
About Userguide we translate a lot but it's not complete yet.... We can continue with this in the gaps between projects.... also we would like to translate "Developer guide"

Great! I won't just import your content, I will try to keep you involved! This is a cooperative site and every help is needed from the Community and Partners, and especially when foreign languages are involved.

I will be releasing some tutorials in the next weeks to teach everybody how to edit the site and contribute.

Release of the site is imminent!

Just a question about the Spanish version: of these sections, which ones do you think are interesting to translate:

  1. User Guide
  2. Developer Guide
  3. Administrator Guide
  4. Community Guide
  5. Technical Blog

I mean, of course it would be nice to have everything, but realistically, User Guide is a priority because it helps you sell projects :-), how do you feel about the rest?

I'm trying to make technical decisions like "will the blog section be multilingual or not?"

Thanks for the input.

Hi @pgorod !

Userguide translation into Spanish is advanced but still needs a lot of work

We have translated until 10.8

You can see it here

pgorod avatar pgorod commented on September 14, 2024

Hi @maladrill nice to see you're eager to start!

Yes, you basically translate and keep the file format the same, like you did. There are a few other things like which filenames and directories to use, but we haven't got around to that part yet.

Please be warned that we will probably be spending some months with only one additional language (Spanish seems to be our second biggest community after English, though we don't have much data on this), so we can work through all the necessary technical issues for the multilingual site.

So you can work on your content but don't expect us to merge it yet. Keep an eye on the evolution of Spanish and you'll see how we're going.

And thanks for offering help, it will come in handy in the near future!

Hi @pgorod

You said you are working through all the necessary technical issues for the multilingual site.... Can we help in any way?

FinnT97 avatar FinnT97 commented on September 14, 2024

Hey @Abuelodelanada

Thanks for the content. I've just finished converting it to the new site and it's looking great!

A few things worth mentioning:

  • When you have time to translate more content, could you translate from the new site instead of the wiki (If you weren't already planning to do this)
  • Would it be possible to translate this page - https://docs.suitecrm.com/user/introduction/ ?

Thanks again!

Abuelodelanada avatar Abuelodelanada commented on September 14, 2024

Hi @FinnT97

Wonderful news!

  • We started translating from wiki because this repo did not exists... we are going to translate from the new site!
  • Yes, we'll start the translation of this page.

best regards

Hi @FinnT97 here you have: #43 ;-)

from suitedocs.

pgorod avatar pgorod commented on September 14, 2024

Hi @Abuelodelanada and @marin-h !

Some time ago we decided to break down the page User Interface into smaller parts, because it was too big and heavy with images. This needs to be done for all languages so that we keep the sites in sync and users can switch between languages easily.

Our Russian contributor @likhobory made the changes in Russian, then I made them in English, this week, in 0002794

I was wondering if I could ask one of you to please do it also for content/user/Introduction/User Interface.es.adoc?

Meanwhile I would like all of us to agree on a Workflow for this kind of changes, so that the 3 languages advance in sync (at least, in the parts already translated). When I fix some detail in English, you need to know so you can bring the other languages up to date.

Finally, I am wondering if we could try to get some more help from other Spanish translators? The Spanish community is big, and surely more people could help. Do you have any ideas for this?

I will close this PR as I feel it has came to a conclusion.
