Are you asking for the created date time on the exported file to be set to when the clip was originally copied?

Yes the date and time the clipboard captured the image. The "Date Added" attribute when listing the "properties" of a clip (Alt+Enter) appears to be the appropriate value.

So for example, I have images in the clipboard from earlier this year which I would like to export with the Date Added used as the image file metadata date modified/created and perhaps the possibility of also including this timestamp in the exported image filename.

Hello Sabrogden,

How do I work out when or if this feature could be added?

Hi Sabrogden,

Are there any plans or manual techniques / methods to be able to export images with an appropriate timestamp? Perhaps this could eventually expand to include a user-definable out file naming scheme where the user can combine what they want, including date captured and other metabata?

user-definable out file naming scheme would be helpful:)

Hi Anyone,

Perhaps the functionality is already available somehow? Is there a process for exporting images from database? I have a lot of stuff in a 50gb database and need to find a way to export it. Can someone perhaps suggest a process they have tested themselves or believe should work okay?

It would also be beneficial to allow exporting / saving of not just clips but IMAGES / pictures with their respective dates within the filenames. Of course there might be a way with ChaiScript.

Also very useful would be to somehow classify images and perhaps clips for export based upon date. The current system where a user relies on tooltips / mouse-hover popups to display the date at arbitrary locations in order to narrow down clips from a certain day. This process can be time consuming in larger databases and the user might conclude that

  1. Dragging the scroll bar to arbitrarily land on a date before OR after the date a user is looking is time-consuming especially in larger databases. Yes, a user can try to do a better search but that is not always possible. In any regards, this problem can be minimised by allowing dates to be displayed (and / or perhaps grouped.. ie, [day] with the group of clips visible in a collapsable tree. This would work great for export and classification, eg if each hour, 3, 6, 12 hours day, week and custom time period was presented as a collapsable tree which also allowed to export.

Will come back to this with a depiction at a later date.

  1. Given the way a user goes back in time and is able to recall and narrow down a clip even though they might not know which term to use - a user is able to look for a clip they need without knowing which text is in there by looking at a consecutive range of clips / days and remembering that the clip they are looking for lay within a certain date range. They might not remember the date range initially but by looking at a clip and deciding the clip they are looking for is before or after that clip, the user is able to narrow down clips with limited knowledge of keywords they are looking for. This however is not effectively possible in larger databases where the user has to hover over each clip (with no ability to set tooltip duration) in order to display the date / timestamp.

Perhaps some of this is possible via ChaiScript - but this would also require learning SQL or whichever database Ditto is using plus sourcing and download of appropriate tools to do comparative developmental testing between in Ditto→ChaiScript→database vs raw database to see if entries are being displayed correctly.
