As said on IRC, "skipping" and generally anything performance related should completely be ignored. That's not the problem of resolvers, but of caching.

@waltertamboer what was your point on the question exactly? The fact that collection items go through resolvers?

He means that having a collection of assets, requires you to specify every individual asset in that collection somewhere else, too. Because those are resolved individually. If you could in stead specify the path to a file directly in your collection array, there's no need to also add it to other resolver_configs.

@RWOverdijk that makes it kind of hard to override single items within a collection though. May be possible via config.

That's a very good point. I think we should just not be lazy and add the assets to either the paths or the map. A collection of assets indicates that it is what it is, and those should remain aliases for the sake of simplicity.
