Hey, i did a PR for this issue
from human-essentials.
Thanks!
from human-essentials.
I was thinking about this issue and I think it might be a better user experience if we added something to the organization itself. Ask them two things - day their fiscal year begins, and do they want their distributions to reflect the fiscal year.
I feel like that is what I heard that those banks was saying in the meeting. Then we could update the distribution to be something like "Distributions since Oct 1" -- assuming their fiscal year starts on Oct 1.

I think the relevant question, overall, is "Who is the audience for this piece of information"? Because the partners may have different fiscal years than the banks. ... Will it be confusing for the partners to see a number that doesn't match their experience, or better to not see it at all.
What is the YTD # used for, and why is it on this "piece of paper"?
The bank who raised the question was initially asking for suppression., FWIW

I'll defer to you on this -- you have more knowledge on what the banks want and have been in more of the syncs with them. I heard they they wanted the number suppressed because it didn't make sense to them because it didn't line up with their fiscal year. I thought, probably naively, that rather than suppress the number we should make it useful/relevant to them. 🤷♂️

Oh, I'm not 100% sure that this is the right way to do it. I'm just trying to put myself in the shoes of the partners -- we don't, unfortunately, have any direct input from them, so I'm using my imagination. g

I'll float a question out in the human essentials and see if we can learn more.

ok, I'm waiting for confirmation on this before making any new changes
from human-essentials.
I have floated the question -- we'll see what response we get within a day or so.

What I've got back so far is that at least one partner of one bank uses the number to try to predict their needs for the coming year. Nothing on how the banks themselves may use it.
from human-essentials.
Which makes me wonder if we should be doing a "items received in the last 12 months" instead. That number is going to wonk back and forth a little, possibly, but I think it would be more useful than "YTD" for that particular purpose.

I'm going to have to take it to the Stakeholder Circle for discussion.

The Diaper Bank that asked for this was at today's Stakeholder circle, and they really are good with just supressing it.
