sorry for the delay - i just added security_groups support to the gem. I've opened a pull request @ #8
This should be in in a couple days.
The syntax for what you wanted to do is like
newserver = os.create_server(:name => "toto" :security_groups => ["default", "test], :imageRef => image.id, :flavorRef => flavor.id)
ie :security_groups is an array of group names. I'll update the readme once the changes are in,
