@lwtz Então, você tem 2 alternativas.
A primeira é seguir a aula do Diegão na integra, dai vai precisar instalar a versão "firebase": "8.6.7".
Ou na própria documentação do firebase (https://firebase.google.com/docs/web/setup?hl=pt-br&sdk_version=v8), você tem a doc atualizada para a versão 9(beta), ai só fazer os ajustes no projeto.
