GitHub pages does serve HTML (and other static resources) with the correct MIME type, so I'm not sure why you would need rawgithub.

The spammer was automatically blacklisted almost instantly and rawgithub itself was keeping up with the load just fine, but the sheer volume of requests (which were coming from a vast array of different IP addresses and referrers that couldn't all be blocked individually -- essentially a DDoS) resulted in far more bandwidth usage than I can afford to pay for. The only way to avoid incurring bandwidth costs was to null-route rawgithub.com.

I'll bring it back as soon as I can, but there's no way to whitelist individual requests right now (and even if there was, it sounds like your usage wasn't valid anyway, tsk tsk!).
